Dr. Ira H. Lieber, M.D., F.A.C.C
Dr. Lieber is a cardiologist specializing in noninvasive and interventional cardiology with interests in peripheral vascular disease, coronary stents, and chronic venous disease/insufficiency.
Dr. Lieber grew up in New York and attended the University of Rhode Island, graduating summa cum laude in 1975. He then moved to Philadelphia for medical school at Drexel/Hahnemann University, followed by an internship and residency at the University of Texas at Houston. Dr. Lieber then was selected for one year of clinical research fellowship at the prestigious Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California under the auspices of P.K. Shah, M.D., Jeremy Swan, M.D., and William Ganz, M.D. There he did cardiology research and published a chapter in clinical therapeutics.
After completion of his research fellowship, he did a two-year clinical fellowship at the University of California at Irvine under the renowned Walter Henry, M.D. After completing his fellowship, he returned to Houston to establish the Texas Cardiology Associates at Houston. He has had faculty appointments at the University of Texas as a clinical assistant-professor involved in training the cardiology fellows.
Dr. Lieber practices using the latest cutting-edge techniques of minimally invasive cardiology as well as chronic venous disease. He is well-versed in chest pain syndrome, coronary artery detection, heart attack treatments, nuclear cardiology, echo cardiography, peripheral vascular disease, coronary stenting, congestive heart failure, and arrhythmias. He has published articles in the past in reference to cardiology, contributed a chapter in clinical therapeutics, and is actively involved in cardiovascular research, being a principal investigator in multiple research clinical trials, including cholesterol, diabetes, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, heart attacks, etc. He was one of the authors in the landmark Acuity trial.
Dr. Lieber has a significant interest in vein disease which is the most underdiagnosed disease in cardiology, yet the 3rd most disabling. He is a National Instructor for Covidien to train doctors in doing ablation therapy. Dr. Lieber is available for all treatments of cardiac symptoms and cardiac diseases as well as second opinions.
During his free time, Dr. Lieber enjoys traveling, exercising, and playing golf.

Dr. Shakeel Uddin, M.D., F.A.C.C
Dr. Shakeel Uddin is a board certified cardiologist who has completed extensive training in different aspects of cardiology. He completed his internship and residency tenures at Tulane Medical School in New Orleans Louisiana, where he was awarded as best teaching resident. After this, he joined a research fellowship training program at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda Maryland. During two years of fellowship, Dr. Uddin had an opportunity to participate in various research protocols especially hibernating and stunned myocardium under the world renowned researchers like Drs. Robert O. Bonow and S. Ward Casscells. During his time at the NIH, Dr. Uddin was able to augment his comprehension regarding various pathophysiologic processes of cardiovascular diseases especially coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, valvular heart disease and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This very aspect of his training background enables him to have a clear understanding of a patient’s clinical presentation which assists him tremendously in the formulation of practical diagnostic and therapeutic plans.
After the completion of his research fellowship Dr. Uddin completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston where he was trained by his mentors Drs. James Willerson, Richard Smalling and Lance Gould. During his clinical fellowship, Dr. Uddin accomplished his skills in invasive and non-invasive cardiology and wide spectrum of cardiovascular related maladies.
Dr. Uddin has been practicing in North Houston since 1995. Besides tackling the issues in acute cardiovascular situations like heart attack, cardiogenic shock, and various life threatening arrhythmias, Dr. Uddin’s principal focus is on preventive cardiology. He believes in taking care of the risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus II, hypercholesterolemia, obesity and tobacco abuse, he can make a great difference for the eventual outcome of a patient’s condition.
Dr. Uddin is fluent in English and Urdu.

Dr. Raza is a board certified interventional cardiologist who joined the group in 2013 after finishing his training in Virginia. He has extensive training in all aspects of cardiovascular care including non-invasive and invasive cardiovascular evaluation, advanced cardiovascular imaging and peripheral arterial and venous diseases.
Dr. Raza started his medical education at Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan, which is considered one of the oldest and most prestigious medical schools in Pakistan. He continued his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. Following his residency training, Dr. Raza joined Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia as faculty and worked as an internist/hospitalist for 3 years at the University Hospital.
Dr. Raza completed his fellowship training in general cardiology at Virginia Commonwealth University where he was trained in all aspects of cardiovascular care by world-renowned faculty. Dr. Raza then pursued additional sub-specialty training in interventional cardiology under the tutelage of one of the pioneers of interventional cardiology Dr. George Vetrovec. During his interventional cardiology fellowship, he received extensive training in coronary and peripheral vascular interventions including complex coronary interventions and use of hemodynamic support devices for high-risk coronary interventions. In addition, he received specialized training in performing cardiac catheterization thru the small blood vessel in wrist (radial artery) in addition to conventional method of performing it thru the groin blood vessels.
Dr. Raza is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, Interventional Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiac Echocardiography and Cardiac CT. In addition, he has advanced training in Cardiac MRI and vascular ultrasound. Dr. Raza prides himself in being one of the few cardiologists with maximum possible board certifications and would like to provide the best possible care to his patients.
Dr. Raza has special interest and expertise in treating varicose veins, spider veins and venous ulceration. In addition, he is also involved in training new physicians who are interested in treating venous disorders.

Dr. Wen is a cardiologist who joined the group in 2016 after finishing his cardiovascular fellowship training at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He severed as the chief fellow prior to joining Texas Cardiology Associates of Houston. He has extensive training in different aspects of cardiovascular care including non-invasive and invasive cardiovascular evaluation, advanced cardiovascular imaging and peripheral arterial and venous diseases.
Dr. Wen started his medical education at Shanghai Medical University (now Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University) in Shanghai, which is one of the most prestigious medical schools in China. After earning his medical degree and Doctor Degree of Philosophy in Biology, Dr. Wen came to the US as a postdoctoral research fellow. His research focused on atherosclerotic process in human arteries and TNF signaling pathways in human cells. Dr. Wen has published more than 10 scientific papers in a variety of journals. He finished his residency training in Internal Medicine and fellowship training in cardiovascular disease at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, the oldest medical school in the state of Texas.
Dr. Wen practices precision medicine. He believes that medical decisions and practices should be tailored to the individual patient. In addition to English, Dr. Wen also speaks fluent Mandarin.

Christin “Chris” Touchet is a board-certified nurse practitioner who joined Dr. Raza at Texas Cardiology Associates in 2023. She has been an advanced practice registered nurse in the North Houston area since 2010. Chris has specialized in cardiovascular medicine for over 12 years and has worked with Dr. Raza and numerous other cardiologists in the hospital setting for the past 10 years. Prior to practicing in cardiology, Chris was a primary care provider in Kingwood.
Chris started her nursing education in Lafayette, Louisiana at the University of Louisiana where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, graduating with honors. She practiced as an intensive care nurse for 10 years in the Texas Medical Center prior to completing her advanced practice nursing education. Chris graduated from Texas Woman’s University in 2010 with her Master of Science in Nursing and certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. In 2015, she completed a Post-Master of Science in Nursing Certification and certified as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. She also holds a specialty certification in Cardiac Medicine.
After spending much of her early nursing career in medical and surgical intensive care units, Chris became enthusiastic in caring for those with cardiovascular disease. She has extensive knowledge as a nurse practitioner managing patients with complex cardiac conditions. Her passion for cardiology is also driven by her son and husband, both of whom have congenital heart disease and have undergone open heart surgeries. Dr. Okechukwu N. Mgbemena is an accomplished physician specializing in interventional cardiology and most recently serving as an Instructor at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. He completed his Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and his general cardiology training at University of Florida, Jacksonville. His internal medicine residency was at Emory University. Dr. Mgbemena holds his B.Sc. in Chemistry, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
