Dr. Shakeel Uddin, M.D., F.A.C.C
Dr. Shakeel Uddin is a board certified cardiologist who has completed extensive training in different aspects of cardiology. He completed his internship and residency tenures at Tulane Medical School in New Orleans Louisiana, where he was awarded as best teaching resident. After this, he joined a research fellowship training program at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda Maryland. During two years of fellowship, Dr. Uddin had an opportunity to participate in various research protocols especially hibernating and stunned myocardium under the world renowned researchers like Drs. Robert O. Bonow and S. Ward Casscells. During his time at the NIH, Dr. Uddin was able to augment his comprehension regarding various pathophysiologic processes of cardiovascular diseases especially coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, valvular heart disease and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This very aspect of his training background enables him to have a clear understanding of a patient’s clinical presentation which assists him tremendously in the formulation of practical diagnostic and therapeutic plans.
After the completion of his research fellowship Dr. Uddin completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston where he was trained by his mentors Drs. James Willerson, Richard Smalling and Lance Gould. During his clinical fellowship, Dr. Uddin accomplished his skills in invasive and non-invasive cardiology and wide spectrum of cardiovascular related maladies.
Dr. Uddin has been practicing in North Houston since 1995. Besides tackling the issues in acute cardiovascular situations like heart attack, cardiogenic shock, and various life threatening arrhythmias, Dr. Uddin’s principal focus is on preventive cardiology. He believes in taking care of the risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus II, hypercholesterolemia, obesity and tobacco abuse, he can make a great difference for the eventual outcome of a patient’s condition.
Dr. Uddin is fluent in English and Urdu.
In his free time, Dr. Uddin enjoys spending time with family and friends. Dr. Uddin also enjoys philosophical writing.
